Confirmed… Etisalat NG acquires new name – Now 9Mobile
Few days ago, Etisalat NG threatened to leave Nigerian Market if a new name is not given to her. Thought arose as to what would happen to Existing users, but we were re-assured by the brand that changing of name has no effect on the Sim of their subscribers. It has been confirmed that Etisalat Nigeria are set to accelerated their game as the quest for a name change has been granted.
It was exclusively gathered that the new name is 9Mobile. At an executive meeting held in Lagos in the early hours of today, the name 9Mobile was adopted and all staff across the country are being notified of the change of name.
The telecoms company is yet to unveil the new brand to the public.
Etisalat Nigeria has 20 million subscribers, making it the country’s number four mobile operator with a 14 percent market share. Our mandate is to make sure the business runs as profitably as it can. What is most important now is to … ensure that the business runs and meets its obligations,” the company’s new chief executive Boye Olusanya said on Tuesday.
He said the telecom company is focused on getting the group back on track. I hope the name change favors the brand. Meanwhile, the recent crisis that invaded the telecommunication network was as a result of unpaid debt to some banks in the country.
